My TrueThinker My Knowledge Bank My Communities Help My Account

TrueThinker.com has several main tabs:

The MyTrueThinker tab is designed to be the hub of your web experience giving you quick access to everything you do on TrueThinker and elsewhere on the web. It is modular so you can customize your page to suit your preferences.

My KnowledgeBank tab allows you to import and manage your favorites and add other webpages and categories you find important. Saving webpages to this section lets you easily capture and, through the customized search engine, retrieve your information. Think of this as searching your personal internet. You can also upload documents and photos to MyKnowledgeBank so they’re available to you wherever you are.

My Communities tab is an opportunity for you to join groups of people with the same interests to share resources such as web pages, documents and photos and hold discussions, publicly or privately.

My Account tab provides access to everything you need to manage your account, whether it’s changing your password or updating your credit card.

My TrueThinker

My TrueThinker is designed to be the hub of your web experience, giving you quick access to everything you do on TrueThinker and elsewhere on the web. You can customize My TrueThinker to include the information you want or need through RSS feeds, hotlinks to any site on the web, and quick access to all of your friends and their resources in TrueThinker. This is the first page that you will see when you log in to TrueThinker; you should consider it your personal homepage. From here you can search within your own TrueThinker categories and communities, within the TrueThinker community at large or the World Wide Web using your search engine of choice.

When you save a site to TrueThinker using the Add Link button, you can also just check Add to My Hot Links and then click Save information. You can also find an item in your KnowledgeBank and click Make a Hot Link next to it.

Search Field
Next to the TrueThinker logo is a search field that provides easy access to quick searches.

Searching TrueThinker

On the top of the search field are two choices – TrueThinker or The Web. Clicking on TrueThinker allows you to conduct a search within the TrueThinker Community and the existing favorites you’ve imported or created. Conducting this type of search results in a list of website links and descriptions within your TrueThinker site. Below the search field you will have two additional choices from which to conduct your search-–My KnowledgeBank or My Communities.

Searching Google

The second type of search, activated when you choose The Web, allows you to conduct external searches using Google, Yahoo or MSN search engines. When you choose The Web, notice that the choices below the search field will change and reflect the different search engines. Choose a search engine, and conduct your search.

My Knowledge Bank

As you use TrueThinker, you are doing more than simply collecting a few bookmarks. You are saving everything that interests you, organizing it the way you will use it, and taking the first step to a more intelligent use of the web, one where the work you do isn’t lost every time you close your browser, and where the AutoGnome within TrueThinker is simultaneously learning who you are and what you like which ultimately helps you to make the most of your time online.

Manage Folders

The My KnowledgeBank tab controls all of your categories with various functions that allow you to edit, add sub-categories, delete categories and manage links.

Manage Folders

Add top level category – If you need a new category, just click here, fill in the new category title and add any keywords you would like to associate with the category.

Edit – allows you to change the title of the category or add or remove keywords associated with this category by clicking Edit.

Add Sub-category – Some categories with many links or multiple topics may need one or more sub-categories for organizational purposes. For example, under the Baby category, you might like to add a sub-category for baby clothes.

Manage Links –Clicking Manage Links brings you to the Category View for the category you selected. From this screen you can modify any of the links in this category. You can edit, move the link to another category, share the link with one of the communities that you are a member of, make this link a hot link or delete the link completely. You can also view the cached version of this link.

View Quickly Added Items –. Clicking on View Quickly Added Items at the top of this page will show you where TrueThinker placed any of the links it categorized for you . If you are using Quick Add from your Toolbar, make sure to review these placements and make any necessary changes so that you can help make TrueThinker more accurate for you. The AutoGnome also learns by watching where you move uncategorized or the occasional mis-categorized items. You can view the text information that TrueThinker used to categorize this link by clicking on the cached version. TrueThinker takes a snapshot of each page it examines and caches (stores) that version as a back-up. The cached version is what TrueThinker uses to judge if a page is a good match for a query.

Practically every search result includes a cached link. Clicking on that link takes you to the TrueThinker cached version of that web page instead of the current version of the page. This is useful if the original page is unavailable because of Internet congestion; an unavailable, overloaded, or slow website or the owner’s having recently removed the page from the Web. If TrueThinker returns a link to a page that appears to have little to do with your query, or if you can’t find the information you’re seeking on the current version of the page, take a look at the cached version.

Upload Documents

Within My KnowledgeBank you’ll see an area called Upload Documents. Here, you can upload documents to store on TrueThinker for easy access from anywhere in the world. You can upload any document, including Word and pdf. docs as well as Excel spreadsheets and photographs

Upload Documents

Use the browse button to select a document on your computer. Add a title for the document, then select an existing category or create a new category in which you want the document stored. You can also share this new link with a community or make the document available as a Hot Link.

Return to Table of Contents

Category View
Inside each of your categories you will see a list of all of the sites and documents you have saved, along with a series of options for each of those resources.

Category View

Edit – This page allows you to move a resource from one category to another, change the name, change the websites address, share it with one of your communities, make it into a Hot Link, or edit how often the site is re-visited.

Cached Version – The cached version of a site is a copy of the text from that site on the day you saved it. This will be available even if the original site goes offline. This is the text TrueThinker uses when you search your KnowledgeBank. To update the searchable text, you can select how often TrueThinker revisits the site (daily, weekly, or monthly) from the edit menu.

Return to Table of Contents

Quickly Added Items
From the Quickly Added Items screen you can perform all of the actions available in a normal category including moving, sharing, deleting, making an item a Hot Link or viewing a cached version of that page. You can see the category which each site is in, and easily move them to another category if Quick Add did not place them where you would have. Again, the AutoGnome learns from its mistakes, so be sure to move an item into the category where you would have saved it.
